On May 20, 2026, Katsutoshi Yamada, Co-Founder and Chairman of Recursive and a Board Member of Generative AI Japan, spoke at BizCrew EXPO 2026 Spring Osaka.
In his session, titled “The Industrial Structure of 2030 Shaped by Generative AI,” Yamada explored how AI is expected to transform business activities and industrial structures in the years ahead, drawing on the latest developments in the global AI landscape. The session was held in one of the event’s largest venues and attracted such strong interest that there was standing room only.

During the session, Yamada outlined several major ways in which AI is expected to reshape industries.
Yamada explained that generative AI will further accelerate the shift from semi-automated to fully automated business operations, driving the redesign of a wide range of workflows. Yamada also highlighted that Physical AI will transform frontline industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and construction, while Science AI will unlock new possibilities in areas where solving challenges has traditionally been difficult, including climate, healthcare, and materials discovery. In addition, Yamada noted that Quantum AI, while still an emerging field, holds the potential to accelerate the next wave of industrial evolution.
Yamada also emphasized that Japan has particularly strong potential in the field of Physical AI. With its world-class hardware capabilities and longstanding expertise in precise, detail-oriented work, Japan is well positioned to create significant value for the global market through AI.
The session also introduced Recursive’s work in AI for Science, as well as a roadmap for how companies can evolve into AI-native organizations.
