【Press Release】Recursive, Appointed as a Director of "General Incorporated Association Generative AI Japan"

Aiming to Promote the Use of Generative AI as an AI Startup in the Sustainability Field

Recursive Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Tiago Ramalho, hereinafter referred to as Recursive) has joined Generative AI Japan (abbreviated as "GenAI") as a corporate member. In addition, our Representative Director and COO, Katsutoshi Yamada, has been appointed as a director. This organization was launched in January 2024 by UL Systems Inc. and Benesse Corporation as joint founders. Under the collaboration of industry and academia, we aim to enhance the industrial competitiveness of Japan as a whole by conducting education, career opportunities, collaboration, co-creation, rule-making, and recommendations in the use of generative AI.

Katsutoshi Yamada, Co-founder & COO of Recursive Inc.

After obtaining his MBA, he was involved in launching ethical fashion and starting two companies. He served as Sales Director at the AI startup "Cogent Labs", where he was involved in the launch of AI-OCR "Tegaki" and implemented AI introduction consulting to more than 200 companies. After continuously starting AI-related companies in Japan, Singapore, and Vietnam from the fiscal year 2018, he co-founded Recursive Inc. in August 2020. He graduated from Deakin University Graduate School of Business.

【Our Background in Participating】

Our opportunity to participate came from an invitation by Benesse Corporation, the initiator of this organization. We were established in August 2020 as an AI startup with a focus on the field of sustainability. We are currently pushing our business forward, consolidating a global perspective from our multinational members across 18 countries. In the process, we naturally see the preparation of environments for the use of generative AI overseas and the development speed of companies. In Japan too, constructing high fairness and safety for social implementation is an urgent issue. As a director in the future, under the cooperation of industry-academy, we will discuss the way of utilizing generative AI, establish industry standards from use cases that align with user realities, and work toward the dissemination of best practices.

This is a technology that applies generative AI to accelerate the utilization of documents, images, voices, and other data scattered throughout the company.
